The employees at Eagle Point Solar are the foundation for the success and growth of the organization. Our staff is made up of over 60 full-time, not contract employees, including sales professionals, degreed system designers, project managers, master electricians and journeymen.

Eagle Point Solar has grown to be the largest solar installer in the region by investing in continual education and training for our staff. This commitment results in a highly skilled workforce with various certifications including, North American Board of Certified Energy Professionals (NABCEP), electrical apprenticeships, factory training by major solar inverter manufacturers, factory certified installers for Tesla, LG Chem and Generac storage systems and multiple licensed drone pilots.

The benefit to our customers is their projects are sold, designed and built by trained professionals with a focus on timeliness and quality.

Barry started Eagle Point Solar in 2010 as a way of personally addressing climate change in an industry that was destined to grow significantly in the years to come with no end in sight to the potential growth. Barry has earned a wide reputation as a vigorous advocate for solar energy and climate change initiatives. Barry feels energy from renewable sources is the Industrial Revolution of the 21st century, and jobs, economic growth, sustainability, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions can all be accomplished within a framework which works for the public and the utilities. He is a founding Board member of ISETA (Iowa Solar Energy Trade Association) and is a frequent speaker and panelist on Solar Energy Policy.

Larry has over 35 years of sales & executive sales management experience. Leading the sales group in his division as well as establishing and executing sales strategies is a major focus. Larry has provided solar consultations to hundreds of businesses and residents. Prior to joining Eagle Point Solar, Larry was the Chief Operating Officer and co-owner of an agriculture fertilizer plant in Central Iowa. He holds three U.S. patents on agriculture and ornamental slow-release nitrogen fertilizer formulations. Larry was also the Director of Sales for an established software engineering firm for over 20 years.

Additionally, Mike holds his Tesla Fundamentals for Certified Installers Certificate. Do you volunteer your time anywhere? “I’ve played semi-professional volleyball early in my career. Now, I volunteer my spare time to help teach the sport to students at the high school level.”

Do you volunteer your time anywhere? “I love skiing and snowboarding! I volunteer my spare time with Midwest Freeriders. A non-profit, youth ski and snowboard club geared towards freeriding and terrain park instruction and coaching.”

What do you like to do when you are not at work? “Whenever possible, I enjoy spending time participating in fundraisers at my children’s schools and coaching my son’s soccer team. On a number of occasions, I have volunteered my time in various Iowa City area art festivals.”

What do you like to do when you are not at work? “I teach a fitness class at a local donation-based yoga studio called Body by Barre. Additionally, I teach Sunday school and go on tons of adventures with my kids and extended family.”

He is instrumental in guiding clients through the Eagle Point Solar process from how solar works, equipment types, utility policies, incentive programs, warranties, construction options, energy monitoring, etc. Kent is tasked with providing Eagle Point Solar clients with the best solar energy system(s) designed to meet current and future energy needs. Kent holds an Associates in Marketing Management from Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and is a volunteer Junior Achievement Instructor. His leadership and product knowledge serve to provide our clients with the elevated expertise which makes Eagle Point Solar a leader in our industry. Steve holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Texas Austin. Tod has over 25 years of experience in electrical system design, sales, repair and engineering within the technology market. As VP of Design & Engineering, Tod is responsible for the system design and engineering process which includes matching compatible equipment to the needs and goals of all Eagle Point Solar client projects. Tod has attended numerous training and industry conferences and is a North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners Photovoltaic Installation Professional (NABCEP-PVIP). Prior to Eagle Point Solar, Tod was a small business owner and previously was employed by a technology company performing both technical and sales support. What do you like to do when you are not at work? “When I’m not at work, I’m still working. Usually I can be found tackling various projects on a honey-do-list or honing my skills as a bass player and self-proclaimed sound engineer.”

The training and type of work helped me build a strong foundation for the technical aspects of the renewable energy industry and my current role.”

Daniel joined Eagle Point Solar in 2018. As a Peace Corps Volunteer in Panama, Daniel served to transfer knowledge of grafting fruit trees to the indigenous Cacao farmers in the area. Utility powerlines didn’t extend to the village, so he installed his own off-grid solar PV system for communication and lighting. Daniel holds a Bachelor of International Relations from Lewis & Clark College, Portland, Oregon and is NABCEP Photovoltaic certified. Daniel is fluent in Spanish and proficient in the local indigenous dialect of the Cacao community. What are you passionate about? “I enjoy the pursuit of self-improvement. I find it rewarding to continuously seek knowledge and be eager to learn more about finance, policy, and technology as it relates to the changing energy landscape.”

Todd graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 2017, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Sustainability and Renewable Energy. He has also taken numerous online courses earning his NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) PV Installation Professional certification. Todd is passionate about the environment and alternative forms of energy. Prior to being a member of the design team, he spent a year helping with the installation of solar arrays. Todd is tasked with performing site assessments, designing solar systems, estimating, and creating CAD drawings. Todd is also a Drone Operator and has an FAA Remote Pilot Certification. Todd is an all-around team player and is often helping out wherever needed.

Jake holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science and Conservation from Wartburg College and is a certified Arborist in the State of Iowa. Do you have any previous work experience which relates to your current expertise? “Before joining Eagle Point Solar, I was a Utility Forester for MidAmerican Energy. I was responsible for creating detailed GIS maps for utility forestry work needing to be completed on the power lines. Strong project management and communication with home owners was a requirement and has helped me in my new role of performing detailed site assessments.”

Since 1991, Randy has served in a variety of executive management roles including sales, marketing, product development, international business and operations. Randy has lead acquisition and divesture teams and has experience managing large projects. Randy brings executive leadership to the team, and oversees the construction phases of the business while focusing on process efficiency and improvement. Randy earned his master’s degree in business analytics from Loras College in 2017.

Matt is charged with completing AC power connections between modules, inverters and electrical panels. Additionally, Matt runs low voltage wiring to connect our client’s arrays to specialized online communication monitoring portals. Matt has specialized training in HAI Leviton Omni Security & Automation, Lutron Caseta Home Automation and Control 4 Home Automation Systems. Additionally, Matt has over 15 years of experience in the electrical industry. He is a member of the Elks Lodge and a frequent player of instruments such as piano, guitar, bass, drums and trombone. What do you do in your spare time? “I enjoy grilling, playing in several bands and spending quality time with my wife and kids.”

Casey joined Eagle Point Solar in 2017. Casey is tasked with installing materials such as racking, inverters, optimizers, and solar modules on both roof and ground arrays. He is passionate about sports and getting kids involved in sport related activities. When he is not installing, Casey operates Olliewood, an indoor skatepark as well as serving as vice president of Midwest Free Riders, a non-profit, which coaches kids in snowboarding, skateboarding, and skiing. What do you like to do when you are not at work? “I like to go boating, camping, do crop farming and coaching Little League baseball.”

John is an experienced heavy machinery operator and skilled at operating the Eagle Point Solar Vermeer PD10 pile driver, Genie, and Yanmar mini excavator. What do you like to do when you are not at work? “I like to be adventurous and spend time outdoors along with volunteering as a Maquoketa, Iowa Reserve Police Officer.”

Throughout his career, Matt has held numerous positions at Eagle Point Solar. He has designed, built and sold solar arrays of many configurations and sizes since 2011. In 2017, Matt was promoted to Service Director and oversees the Eagle Point Solar customer service division. Matt has a Bachelor of Arts from Loras College. He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard and gained extensive experience in electrical and mechanical engineering.

What do you like to do when you are not at work? “When I’m not at work I like to cook, crochet, play cards, help on the farm and spend time with family.”

What are you passionate about in general? “I am passionate about using technology to facilitate processes and organize data, you could call me a geek in that regard. Additionally, I’m an avid DIY’er, so I always have a project I am working on.”

Christy joined Eagle Point Solar in October of 2019. Christy’s concentration is focused on recruiting, payroll, benefits and employee relations. Christy has over 15 years of human resource experience across manufacturing, banking and healthcare industries. She enjoys helping staff members navigate the onboarding process and improving policies and benefit options to meet the development needs of a growing workforce. Christy holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in human resources from the University of Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa. What do you do when you’re not at work? “I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family and friends. Currently, I am also volunteering as my son’s soccer coach.”

As Marketing Director, Lynn is charged with building marketing programs and strategies to inform the public about the benefits of solar and strengthen the Eagle Point Solar brand through the use of various media. Lynn holds a Bachelor of Communication and Public Relations from Clarke University, Dubuque, Iowa; and a Master of Communications from the University of Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa. What do you like to do when you are not at work? “When I’m not at work, I like to kayak in the Green Island Wildlife Management area south of Bellevue, IA. I also love to teach graphic design, video editing, web development and corporate communications strategies as an adjunct professor at the University of Dubuque.”

As Communications and Events Specialist, Casey is tasked with coordination of various industry and community events such as tradeshows, seminars and ribbon cuttings. Additionally, Casey is instrumental in supporting the lead generation functions within the marketing department. Casey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Monmouth College, Monmouth, Illinois. What do you like to do when you are not at work? “When I’m not at work, I love to go to the movies. During the summer, I enjoy spending time with family on the Mississippi.”
