A ribbon-cutting was held today to celebrate the completion of the Dubuque Fire …

A ribbon-cutting was held today to celebrate the completion of the Dubuque Fire Department Stations Rooftop Solar Project. The City worked with Eagle Point Solar and solar arrays were installed on five of Dubuque’s six fire stations. They are producing about 150 kW of electricity and offsetting anywhere from 25% to 100% of the electricity use at each building. The impact of this project is significant, both environmentally and economically. Combined, the arrays are avoiding 3,740 tons of carbon dioxide over the life of the panels, or the equivalent of the annual electric use of 425 homes. While doing so, the City anticipates saving approximately 30% over our current electric utility rates. Thank you to everyone who attended today’s event.
